Gorgona, Republic of Panama

We arrived friday night at the condo and then went to get groceries. We had to go about 8 km away and when we came back it was dark and very different from when we arrived. Needless to say we got very lost and drove up and down rutted lanes surrounded by bush for about 1 hour. We came upon a hotel and the wonderful owners took us to our condo. It turns out we were only 2 or so blocks away but just couldn't find it. We since went back to their hotel "Gorgona Hotel" for a fantastic fish dinner. There is no menu here and they only serve fish but boy was it good.

These pictures are taken from a point looking back onto the beach we use which is only a 5 min walk from the condo. The huts you see are for a private place and we don't get to use them.

This is our condo area. The pool is very nice and the caretaker Demis is wonderful. Our unit is small and hot. Since we have to pay extra for AC we don't use it to much.

that was the good...
now for the bad...
Rob killed a tarantula in my bedroom... it was freeking big. We caught a cockroach but couldn't kill it.... now we have Roach spray.
The second night here the water line to the mini hot water heater on the wall burst at 5am and the unit got flooded. Demis swept the water outside for us but we were without hot water for 2 days. We decided the water here is not cold so we turned off the water heater and have cold (luke warm) showers etc.
This morning I discovered a ton of little weeee bugs all over the bathroom floor and swept them outside. this picture is of some of them
and lastly the Ugly
we are covered in little wee bug bites (maybe those things that were on the bathroom floor) and I no longer wear make up cause it just sweats off of me.
Stay turned.... more adventures to come
